Hey ya’ll,
I am SO excited about this post. SO, SO excited. Why, you may ask? For the first time in a long time (and I’m talking 5-years-long-time) I’m getting back to the roots of this blog- back to the days when it was a newlywed blog I got to talk about all things bridesmaid dresses, centerpieces, cakes, and honeymoons. And that’s where our story begins today, the honeymoon.
As you may (or may not) remember, Mr. R and I went on a cruise to Mexico for our honeymoon. It was amazing, we got to climb Mayan Ruins, snorkel (kind of) and even won The Amazing Race (photo evidence below)!
One thing I wished we’d had as we were planning our honeymoon was some kind of guide (other than our friends and Google) to point us in the right direction, because honestly, we had no starting point, and I’m honestly surprised we ended up figuring out such an awesome honeymoon on our own! It’s a daunting task!
Luckily, for those getting married now (or hey, just wanting to plan a rocking’ vacation), Lonely Planet is introducing it’s new book, The Honeymoon Handbook (Lonely Planet / $17.99 / January 17, 2017), an essential planning tool for making those honeymoon dreams come true. In the new book, they name the top 10 budget honeymoon destinations, islands and more, and provide all the tools couples need to plan their dream trip. Again, why wasn’t this out 5 years ago?!
This book “strikes a perfect balance of romance, adventure, and unforgettable experiences,” according to HoneyTrek.com, and I couldn’t agree more! So, without giving too much away, a few of my favorite things about the book are the lists (don’t we all love a good list?!) I love how it takes your interests and easily gives you what you need. For example, if you know you want to go to an Island, check out Top 10 Honeymoon Islands. Other lists include:
- Top 5 Foodie Honeymoons
- Top 5 Off-the-Beaten-Path Honeymoons
- The Honeymoon Quiz (take it and it will point you in the right direction of where in the book to start!)
- Info about getting married abroad
- Best Minimoons
- Best Familymoons
I’m so excited to get to giveaway a copy of this amazing book to one lucky winner! {Enter to win} your very own copy of The Honeymoon Handbook below! Giveaway ends February 13. Good luck!!

February 3, 2017 at 4:50 pmHow cute! While the 1st honeymoon-planning period is over for us, who says you can’t do a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) honeymoon?? This seems like a good guide!
