Baby Family Holidays Uncategorized

A Christmas to remember!

Hey everyone,

Well, Anissa’s first Christmas has come and gone, and just like that, we’re that much closer to 1! New Year’s Day and Valentine’s Day are really her only “1st holidays” left before her birthday, but it’s been so much fun getting to experience all of her firsts!

We had such a great time spending time with all of our family for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My brother came in to town from Austin, and it was only his second time meeting the baby, so we knew we needed to squeeze in lots of extra time with him! But the day before Christmas Eve, my sister came down with the flu, so we were sure Christmas had been ruined! By Christmas Eve, she was feeling better already and hadn’t had a temp in 24 hours, so we went to grab a quick lunch with them. After lunch, Mr. R, Anissa and I headed home to get ready and pack up the car, and we all went over to my in-laws’ house. My mother-in-law had made some delicious Cuban food, and we enjoyed lots of family time, food, and of course, gifts! This year was especially special because of our three perfect additions to the family (see cuteness below) and I’m pretty sure everyone loved spoiling the babies and the older kids, as well!

After all the commotion from the present-opening had calmed down, we decided to head home and get some rest. After all, we were planning to head to my parents’ house the next morning to spend the day over there! So we went home, got a little bit of rest, and then all of a sudden, Cele woke up Christmas morning feeling like he had the flu- ugh! Of course, he very well could have, since we’d seen Maddie before we knew she had it. So, I let him sleep in a little and worked on unloading and then re-packing up the car before he and the baby work up on Christmas morning. Once they were up, we headed over to my parents with bags in tow, because we were planning to spend the night. We got there and pretty immediately opened presents (which was the longest present-opening I think I’ve ever been a part of- we even had to stop halfway to put the baby down for her nap, continue, and then let her finish when she woke up!) After presents came lunch, followed by some serious veg-out time and trying-out-our-new-gifts time! We all had a great time, but I think I had the most fun watching the baby play with her gifts. She is at such a fun age that she really enjoyed her toys! It was awesome. Below she is playing on her new piano/turntables 🙂

After lunch and play time, we ran over to my in-laws again to see them for a little while, and let Anissa open her presents from them and Santa. Again, more fun and cuteness ensued. Proof below:

Finally, we wrapped it up with dinner back at my parents house, followed by playing board games, drinking hot choocolate, and calling it a night in our new matching PJs from Pajamagram 🙂

The next morning, Mr. R was still feeling sick so we left the baby with my parents and headed over to the doc. No flu, thank goodness, but he is still on the mend! I’m so glad to be home for two weeks (perks of being a teacher ;)) to help him get better fast!

All in all, we had SO much fun and are so thankful to all our friends and family who we were able to hang out with, and to everyone who gave us or Anissa gifts- know that she loves them and we are having so much fun! Merry Christmas to everyone, we hope yours was just as memorable and enjoyable!

XO,

Amanda
