Hey everyone,
Happy Monday! Today is my first day at home with the bebe after finishing up my Master’s and my student teaching, and whadayaknow, I’m up at 6 a.m. anyway!
So a little backstory on this post, and why I even got thrown a surprise party in the first place. Well, for those of you that don’t know, I’ve been working on my Master’s of Elementary Education for a while now- slowly but surely finishing one class at a time, and working on hundreds of hours of observations. When I decided to leave my job for health reasons, I enjoyed my time at home with Miss Anissa, but decided it was the right time to officially finish up my degree and become a certified teacher. That meant, it was time to student teach!
I ended up doing my student teaching with my sister-in-law, Jaclyn, in 1st grade (she’s dabest). It was literally the most fun 12 weeks of my life, and I know I absolutely made the right choice. As cheesy as it may sound, I think teaching is a calling for some, including me. I’ll go into more details about student teaching later, but for now, let’s get to the good stuff.
So, turns out Mr. R has had a surprise up his sleeve for a long while now. To finish off my last day of student teaching, he told me his parents wanted to take me out to dinner at a hibachi restaurant near their house. Since I pick up the baby from their house anyway every day, I just figured I’d stay there and wait on him to come meet us. Well, turns out, his friend was “having car trouble” so he needed a few extra minutes. Then, he said “Well, there’s a hibachi place by our house, why don’t we go there instead and you just come pick me up.” When I arrived at the house, I noticed there was paper coving the little wind on our front door. I thought it was weird, but thought maybe the sun had been too bright or something- i don’t know. But when I opened the door, wouldn’t you know ALL of my family was there shouting SURPRISE!!!!!
I almost cried, and I almost cry every time I think about how hard Mr. R and our family worked to pull this off. Almost everyone chipped in something, brought food or drinks or a gift- I mean, it was all just too much happiness. Something I definitely didn’t think I deserved, but something I will be eternally grateful for.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get many pictures during the party because I was too busy having fun, but I did get some pictures of the setup, which Mr. R worked soooo hard on. I asked if we could keep these decorations up forever ๐
THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO CAME: Cele, Maria, Lino, Mom, Dad, Jaclyn, Roly, Alejandro, Gabriel, Ella, Lino, Suz, Tonio, Jess, Samy, Ava, and Anissa ๐ I love you guys more than you know!!!
Xo,
Amanda
