Hey everyone!
We all know I just had a baby. I gained 32 pounds, and, over the past four months since her birth, have managed to lose 28 just by popping her out and breastfeeding. That’s right- up until a month ago, I hadn’t done a darn thing to lose baby weight. Heck, I’ve been too busy being in the hospital and worrying about trying to steer clear of any more surgeries to worry about kicking those last 4 pounds or toning up- Lord knows I need some toning in my life!
So when my brother-in-law, Roly, (fitness buff and blogger at X Gains) suggested I try Shakeology and PiYo, also known as the Beachbody Challenge, I thought, hey, neat idea! Maybe I could finally tone up and get back to my pre-baby bod (not that it was anything to yearn for, but it was better than post-baby!
Here’s a before picture- I weighed 139.6 and was trying to get to 135 + less jiggle.
So what is the Beachbody Challenge, you may ask? Welp, it’s PiYo and Shakeology. PiYo is a combination of Pilates and Yoga. And since in a past life, I was totally getting good at yoga, I thought PiYo would be a great way to whip my booty back into shape. It’s a fun, fast workout that’s a lot more intense than yoga, and with classes like Drench, Sweat, and Define Upper and Lower Abs, there’s a nice variety. The program is a 3-month-long program that rotates daily, and the program comes with a calendar and a plan of what class to do each day- easy peasy. No need to struggle over trying to get the right workouts in or worrying about overdoing it on your arms or legs- they set it up for you so you have a nice, even workout all the time!
The one negative thing I would have to say about PiYo would be that the lady that teaches the class always starts on the right side and spends entirely too long on the right, only leaving for a tiny sliver of time on the left. And, she does it pretty regularly, so that’s annoying. Other than that, though, I really enjoyed the workout I got from PiYo.
And now for Shakeology, my favorite! Shakeology is a smoothie drink that can either work as a meal replacement or just added to your regular diet as a supplement. As said best by the creators themselves, “Shakeology can absolutely transform your health, with ease. But for this to happen, there’s something you have to do: Drink it every day.”
Some of the benefits of Shakeology are:
- Lose weight- especially if you replace a meal with Shakeology every day
- Improve your digestion and regularity
- Reduce junk food cravings
- Increase your energy and stamina
Shakeology comes in 6 different flavors- strawberry (what I tried- delicious!), vanilla, chocolate, greenberry, and vegan chocolate. I tried strawberry and thought it was absolutely delicious. I’ll share a few recipes below, but all in all my shakes would make 32 oz., so I could drink it all day, and were between 300 and 350 calories each. All you have to do is make a smoothie like you regularly would and then add in the powder shake mix- easy enough!
Shakeology Smoothie Ideas:

All in all, I’ve lost those 4 pounds in just one month of PiYo and Shakeology!! I won’t share an after picture just yet because I still have some toning up to do and two months left of Piyo, but I definitely owe it to Shakeology, PiYo, and my BeachBody Coaches, Roly and Jaclyn!
XO,
Amanda
