Prepping for Baby R: Month 5

Hey everyone!

This Wednesday, we’ll be at the halfway point of growing this sweet baby! Holy moly! Where has half of this pregnancy gone? I feel like I wished and wished to get through the first trimester safely, and now I can’t believe we’re already halfway done!

We’ve done a lot in the past few months to start prepping for her upcoming arrival. For starters, we got her crib! Or should I say, my grandmother bought her crib! My parents also graciously bought her the dresser, and we bought a rocker glider on GREAT sale during Cyber Monday. How exciting! We also went to a great consignment sale called Rhea Lana when I was only 12 weeks pregnant (hey- it only comes around twice a year and ya’ll know I can’t miss a good sale!) and got things like her co-sleeper, a Bumbo seat, the Infantino attachable high chair and more.

The crib: obviously in-store model, not her bedding

The dresser: Again, in-store model

We also painted her nursery, and bought two Pack ‘n Plays- we got the Pack ‘n Play with Cuddle Cove, which is more of a home nursery and includes the actual Pack ‘n Play bassinet and playard, as well as a changing table (will be super helpful for downstairs diaper changes) and a removable rocker. The second Pack ‘n Play we got was a very basic Pack ‘n Play on the Go playard, which will be great for overnight trips or any time we need to pack up and go quickly. We also snagged it on Black Friday for only $45 (regular $80).

What other progress have we made? Well, her nursery has been painted, but we can’t really decorate it right now because we are remodeling the house, and her room is the storage room. But we have been picking up knick-knacks and decorations for the walls. Mr. R surprised “his girls” with beautiful necklaces, so I crafted a framed hanger for the wall. This will help you get a sense of what the nursery theme will be!

We’ve also been fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of so many sweet gifts! Our friends Zach and Cristina packed up bags of their sweet 1-year-old Amalia’s clothes, toys and goodies practically the day they found out we were having a girl, and my mother-in-law, Mom and Grandma have all continuously brought over sweet outfits, socks, dolls, books… they are all so excited!! Add that into the fact that Mr. R and I have gotten a wee bit excited every time we see baby girl clothes on sale, and this girl has a rockin’ wardrobe already!! (key word is sale, though! I’ve been pretty good about not buying anything full price! Oh- and that reminds me- we registered! We’re all set-up at Babies R Us and Target, which is exciting!

Next up for months 5 and 6 include researching and booking prenatal classes (we’re going to do a Birthing class, Childcare 101 and Breastfeeding Basics, I believe) and start looking into pediatricians. I’m also working on my maternity leave plan. With the holidays falling right in the middle of this pregnancy, it’s made me try to do things early, so we don’t get through the holidays and BAM- more than halfway done!

Anyone have any tips or things we SHOULD be doing in the 5th month?

XO,

Amanda

What gorgeous nursery furniture! I love the crib, dresser/changing station and the Pack n’ Plays that you have chosen! I’m sure once you get all of it put together in the baby’s nursery it will be beautiful!
