Hey everyone,
So, have you seen The Great Gatsby yet? If you don’t remember, it was on my summer box office must-sees list, and we saw it as soon as it came out!
Usually, we all know that the book is better than the movie. Books give you creative license to cast whomever you want, have them look and act how you want, and imagine settings that most directors could never come close to. Books allow your mind to wander, to tweak and twist the story as you see fit, and allow you to enjoy a story at your own pace.
But for once, I have got to give it to the movie. The Great Gatsby is one of the most visually stunning, fun, movies I have ever seen. It’s almost exactly how I imagined the story in my mind, and somehow they found a way to cast the most amazingly perfect actors for each role. The scenes were enhanced by amazing graphics and 3-D, and the movie kept incredibly close to the book.
As someone who has loved this book since they read it in high school, I can’t get over how pleased I was with the movie, even as I was re-reading the book to ensure I remembered it all before seeing the movie.
Did you see the movie? Read the book? Both? I’m dying to know what you thought!
XO,
Amanda
