Unplugging over the weekend and finding a balance that works for you

This weekend I had a chance to think. Well, more like I was forced to think because we’d had such a busy weekend that I hadn’t once gotten on my blog, written, checked my readership, Tweeted or anything! It was insane, but I didn’t even notice the insanity until Sunday evening when all was said and done. But when I thought back, what had I really missed out on? To be honest, not much. My readership significantly declines when I post on the weekend versus the week, and not that readership is everything or the only reason I write, but I definitely don’t want to post something important like a big giveaway on the weekend. And I know that. And I’m ok with that! My readers have lives, too, so I don’t expect you all to be sitting around checking your email for a new post to pop up! Also, new opportunities usually don’t come in on the weekends, so there’s another check in the “Unplug during the weekend” column.

So, this revelation got me thinking… what if I just lived my life, too? Just like everyone else. What if I blog during the week only, and unplug during the weekends, taking my weekends to re-share my posts from the week, since I know there are a select few of you that can ONLY catch up during the weekends. Then, I’d be free from the stress of trying to get up a post that people may not even read and it would do wonders in getting an editorial schedule in the works!

From now on, I’ll only be blogging Monday – Friday, and using my weekends to catch-up on other blogs, brainstorm some new posts, look for exciting new opportunities for you all and plan for the next week. Of course, there will always be an exception or a time when I just can’t blog 5 days a week, but, for the most part, this is my new plan of action for The Accidental Mrs., and I’m so excited!

Blogger friends, when do you post? Do you stick to a weekend/weekday schedule, or do you have a certain number of times you blog per week? Everyone works differently, so I’m excited to learn about the ways it works for you!

XO,
Amanda

I only blog during weekdays no more than 3 times per week. I make it a point to stay completely offline during the weekends so I can spend time with the family.

Hi! Stopping by from Mom Bloggers Club. Great blog!
    Have a nice day!

This is exactly what I do!! I am most productive on Mondays where I write most of my posts and simply schedule them. I always try to not be on my blog on the weekends. Very seldom do I blog on Saturdays. I leave those two days for my family, 2 days where they have my undivided attention. It feels good to take a break and refresh. Sometimes the best ideas come over the weekend!

I try to post on Wed & Sat. Considering I spend the rest of the time joining linkys and looking for material, that’s more than enough for me! BB2U

I don’t have a specific schedule. I tend to work in spurts, scheduling a bunch of posts at once and then going back to fill in if the inspiration bug bites me! 🙂

That’s a good approach- I love when I get the inspiration bug!
