Hi everyone!
Today is a SUPER special post! It’s all about this great couple, Cristina and Zach Meloy, and their amazing vision to feed Atlanta, known as PushStart Kitchen. Though we’ve only been twice, PushStart is one of our favorite places to spend a weekend evening, especially if you are in the mood for great fun, good company and amazing food. See, PushStart is like a restaurant, meets supper club, meets dinner party. The awesome couple, The Meloys, host 18 guests, four times per week, in their home! You read that right. They open up their home to average Joes, all in hopes of uniting the community over great food.
This concept may seem a little iffy from the beginning, especially if you aren’t quite a social butterfly. But, I ensure you, whether you go with a group, or just on a date, you’ll meet great people and you’ll forget you weren’t all friends when you showed up! Since you are in the chef’s house, he talks to his guests throughout dinner, cooks in a kitchen everyone can see into, and introduces each meal (which are, to say the least, ah-mazing!)
So let’s talk food. First off, you walk in and get a cocktail and appetizers. Then, you get white wine and your first course. The, red wine and your dinner. Then, champagne and dessert. Finally, moonshine and a cordial. So, to say they get you liquored up is an understatment. But, you can have as little, or as much, as you want. But back to food… the menu from last Friday, when we went, was as follows:
Menu (includes wine pairings)
- Cocktails and canapes- mini tamales
- Textures of potato, red onion caramel, egg yolk, charred green onion, honey mustard
- Root beer glazed pork loin, crispy yuca, black bean, pickled fennel, chipotle glaze
- Banana cake, lemongrass ice cream, brazil nut praline, golden raisin, burned marshmallow, banana crumble
- Candy+ cordial
Sounds amazing, right? Check out these mouthwatering pictures, and I’m sure you’ll be sold.
All this, and all they ask if for a $60 donation per person, which, I will tell you first hand, is more than worth it. They love how it works, bringing guests into their homes, but The Meloys want something more! So, they are excited to announce that PushStart Kitchen has also launched a KickStarter project to help them raise the money they need to fund their real, brick + mortar restaurant, and I am so proud to be a supporter! To learn more, support the cause or share with others, check out their page here. I have no doubt that they’ll raise the $50,000 needed to start up the store, and hope our contribution helped, if even just a little bit!
You should also check out PushStart Kitchen on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and most importantly, go to pushstartkitchen.com to sign up to be on the supper club invite mailing list!
XO,
Amanda
