So, since this is, afterall, a newlywed blog, one of my favorite things to write about is anything that allows me to drift back to our wedding or anything around that oh-so-special time in our lives. One of my favorite things about the past year was definitely our honeymoon, and when I realized I had never shared anything about it, I realized I had to make a picture gallery!
We had an absolutely amazing time on our honeymoon, which came as a surprise because we were’nt even planning to go on a honeymoon until the last few months! We had all of our efforts focused on buying a house during the same time, so we didn’t think even an inexpensive honeymoon would be in the cards for us. But luckily, we received a lot of great advice to try a cruise, and so we did! We ended up going on a 5-day Carnival Cruise on the Carnival Triumph from Galveston, TX to Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico, and all in all it only cost us about $2,500. That’s for a room with a balcony AND includes all of our alcohol, since that’s the only thing that’s not included in a cruise. Granted, neither of us are huge drinkers, but still, what a deal!
Carnival was absolutely amazing- we had all you can eat food 24/7, so we would order room service in the morning (just because!), then go to breakfast at a restaurant, then have lunch out by the pool, then head in for dinner at the restaruant and then dessert or a snack later on- it was insane!
There were also so many shows, activities and fun things to do while on the ship. There were clubs, restaurants, bars, a water slide, pools, oh man… when can we book another?? We also got to do an Amazing Race in Cozumel (which we WON!) and we got to visit the Mayan Ruins in Progreso, Yucatan. Everything was simply amazing!
Here are the descriptions of the two Excusrions we went on (and yes, they cost extra, but that’s all rolled in to that price I mentioned!)
Amazing Race Cozumel:
Play Amazing Cozumel Race- an interactive, clue-based adventure game that’s like a reality show! Equal parts live-action mystery novel, and scavenger hunt, it’s the most fun way to experience Cozumel.
Dzibilchaltun Mayan Ruins and Beach Break:
Take a journey back in time to explore the ancient Dzibilchaltun Mayan Ruins followed by a relaxing beach break.
Anyway, I could go on and on forever, so I’ll close with a picture gallery from our trip and a strong recommendation that EVERYONE SHOULD GO ON A CRUISE, and more importantly, a honeymoon! I am so glad we chose to go, even if it wasn’t some fancy schmancy resort. We loved the trip, we loved the time we got to spend talking about our wedding and being together, just the two of us. What an amazing trip; can’t wait to do it again!
