Hi yall!
So after seeing this delicious post this weekend, Mr. R and I were inspired. We wanted to create the world’s best rum sauce, to top off our Banana Smores (which are worthy of a whole different post!)
So we set off to make the yummy rum sauce, only to find out the site only listed the recipe, but no measurements. Bummer. That easily meant that the first try was a major failure. On the second try, we got it right (or better, at least!) See it topping our “healthy” fruit snack?
The recipe we ended up going with is below. I would love to try out some new recipes for a fantastic Rum Sauce (or any variation!) if anyone has one to share!
Rum Sauce:
Ingredients:
– 1 tbsp butter
– ¼ c brown sugar
– 1 tbsp flour
– 1 c milk
– 3 tbsp dark rum
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– Squirt of fresh lemon juice
Directions:
– Melt butter in saucepan
– Mix in brown sugar until melted
– Add milk slowly, whisking as you add
– Once mixed, add flour and continue to whisk until all clumps are gone
– Take off heat
– Add rum and continue to mix
– Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt
– Add lemon juice
– Serve hot (we served over cold fruit)
