I feel like just yesterday, every weekend was a bridal Shower. Now, my weekends are filled with baby showers and birthday parties! I’ve gotta admit, I have perma-baby fever, so baby showers are definitely my jam!
Just last year, both me and my subject teaching partner, Ashlyn of Right Meow or Never, were BOTH pregnant with boys at the same time! Our 5th grade team and our Instructional Coach, Travonnie, planned awesome showers for us! Now that Travonnie is expecting a sweet little guy, Micah, and we were so excited to return the favor and shower her with love with a Nautical Baby Shower!
When planning a school baby shower, without huge budgets or lots of time (because no one’s going to stay till 6 for a full shower) you need four main things; invitations, decorations, games, and a gift!
Spreading The Word
Nautical theme is what we decided to go with because she is also using that in her nursery. We knew to turn to Etsy to look for the BEST of the best invitation options. Linda over at Charm City Charm had exactly what we were looking for and she was so easy to work with and we received the invitation proof quickly! You can check her shop from the link OR here! We printed them at Walgreens and stuck them in the teachers boxes at school.
Pretty-ing Up the Place
Clearly, we work at a school, not an event venue, so we’re going to be working with a classroom, cafeteria, or something similar. The bare white walls and lovely carpet mean we had lots to do to make it Baby Shower ready, but it was a challenge we were willing to take on!
We had to be a little creative in terms of how we were going to set everything up but Etsy quickly became our best friend – the possibilities are endless and we found perfect decor!
We set up a seat for Mama and Papa-to-be near the board. The space was kind of blank so we wanted to spruce it up with another fun banner from Shower The Baby! This is available as a digital download. We sent it to be printed at Staples and it turned out great! Also included is the Daddy-To-Be banner if you wanted to include both at your shower!
We also grabbed this adorable Welcome Aboard Life Ring by SimplyCreatedForYou6 and it was able to be used for both shower decoration AND will be used for nursery decor! We added this nautical ring to our cake table for an extra special touch. Simple yet really tied in the decor all together!
Having Some Fun
Baby showers mean games, whether they range from gross, to cute, to awkward. Etsy has tons of game options, many of which are digital files. I love that the digital file includes SEVERAL options. We actually had a few games going on at once, and we used Green Melon Studios and loved their games! Grab a few small prizes ($5 Target gift cards are always a hit!) and you’re set!
Showering with Gifts
I cannot say enough good things about this BEAUTIFUL Baby Blanket by SeasTheDaySewing! Robin was incredibly friendly and helpful and the blanket turned out absolutely stunning. Baby Micah is loved so much already, as is his mom, and I feel like this gift was just PERFECT to show them both how much we love them!
The other Instructional Coach created these adorable centerpieces! The pail is filled with lifesaver candies so it was a perfect treat for people to take on their way out. You know a teacher has a limited budget so something simple, inexpensive and cute is right up our alley! We were also able to surprise her which was awesome!
So there ya have it, folks! How to throw an easy school baby shower using some amazing vendors from Etsy and some great teammates 😉 Baby Michah, we can’t wait to meet you and Travonnie, we love you!!
Disclosure: I did receive some of these products for free in return for my honest review, but all opinions are my own and they made the shower wonderful!
